Caleb Williams 'not happy' about NFL Top 100 ranking and his top two QBs

Caleb Williams has admitted Matthew Stafford is one of his favorite quarterbacks in the league and ranked him and Aaron Rodgers as two of the best while not mentioning Patrick Mahomes.

The number one overall draft pick is set to make his unofficial NFL debut this weekend when he'll face the Buffalo Bills , as he also left Josh Allen out of his top three list and insinuated that he believes Stafford to be a superior quarterback.

Los Angeles Rams starter Stafford had an impressive 2023 season, bouncing back from a poor 2022 campaign after winning the Super Bowl the previous year. And although he's heading towards the end of his career, Williams still believes him to be among the best in the league.

Speaking on the Up & Adams Show with Kay Adams, Williams said: "I mean, he's unbelievable. Like, there's a couple plays where he'll go play action... he has the (linebacker) on a string, like he wants the backer to go here, and he'll throw it right behind his head with the perfect touch, perfect velocity."

Williams went on to bring up Stafford's place in the league's Top 100 rankings - voted on by the players. Stafford ranked 42nd on the list.

"I was not happy," Williams said. "I don't think I can name two quarterbacks, two, three quarterbacks that play the position better than Matthew Stafford."

The number one overall pick had been asked about Josh Allen, his team's opponent this weekend, but stuck with Stafford and New York Jets' Aaron Rodgers as his favorite two - while seemingly stating he feels the two are better than Allen.

"Matthew Stafford is Matthew Stafford," Williams responded. "Aaron Rodgers -- right now in the game -- is my No. 1 QB. ... Matthew is top-two in the league. I give him his respect.

Intriguingly, Mahomes was not mentioned by Williams as his favorite, nor who he believes to be the best at his position - which seemingly looks to be a consensus opinion among fans and analysts.

Mahomes had been the player who Williams was most compared to throughout the latter's final two years in college with USC as he looked to make the jump to the NFL. The former Heisman Trophy winner showed the Mahomes-like ability to make big plays out of ones that had seemed lost - leading to the Chicago Bears making the quick decision to move on from Justin Fields in order to draft and start Williams from his rookie season.
