Justin Thomas lets rip at Netflix over controversial Ryder Cup scene in 'Full Swing'

Justin Thomas has taken aim at Netflix for its portrayal of his selection in the Ryder Cup team after he was picked over Keegan Bradley in 2023.

Heading into the tournament, Bradley was controversially excluded from the American roster before later citing an exclusive culture within the team - with other golfers who had been out of form, such as Thomas , being picked ahead of him.

It had seemed harsh on the face of it, with Bradley being one of the more in-form players heading into the tournament before he was not selected one of the six captains selections. However, Thomas has slammed Netflix for how it had documented how the move was made - which he believes suggested that they had make it look like it came down to a decision between he and Bradley.

Speaking on the No Laying Up podcast, he said: "It was tough to watch, but it’s the reality. If you compare our seasons, Keegan deserved that spot more than I did.

“It (Netflix) made it seem like it was the only captain’s pick. But there are six picks, and while several were considered locks, the final couple of spots were more up for grabs."

During the episode at the time, Bradley had said: "The reality for me is, I don’t have this connection to that group that a lot of guys have, so I know I have to go play well to get on this team."

Bradley then later spoke of his disappointment in how things had played out, telling Sports Illustrated: "It was interesting to see for sure. Obviously I sort of do my own thing out there, but I knew I was behind the 8 ball for sure in that category. I said to myself, if you just keep playing well and winning tournaments, that’s the only way I can prove myself. I love those guys —JT [Justin Thomas] and Rickie [Fowler ] and Jordan [Spieth ] — so much. I hate saying a negative word or thinking even a negative thought about them.

"But I kept telling myself, listen, this is not going to be easy. You’re not going to be picked if you’re a fringe pick. You have to go prove that they have to pick you. When I didn’t make the team on points, I knew that was a big risk. I knew that if it was down to me or some of those guys, I probably wouldn’t get picked. I knew that going in and I just kept trying to play as hard as I could."

Heading into the Ryder Cup back on home soil, Bradley will lead Team USA after being made captain, with the nation looking to bounce back from their loss to Europe in Italy when they had been without him.
