Patrick Mahomes believes Taylor Swift pushed Travis Kelce into major change

Patrick Mahomes says Taylor Swift has finally got Travis Kelce to grow his hair out - something the Kansas City Chiefs quarterback had been telling him to do, only for it to fall on deaf ears.

Kelce and Swift , both 34, went public last Sept. at a Chiefs game at Arrowhead against the Chicago Bears. Since then, the couple has gone from strength to strength, making them a celebrity IT couple.

Swift attended several games on Kansas City 's run to retain the Vince Lombardi Trophy at Super Bowl LVIII against the San Francisco 49ers in Las Vegas. In the offseason, the couple spent a considerable amount of time together as the superstar singer toured around Australia, Asia, and Europe.

With the 2024 NFL season fast approaching and preseason well underway, Kelce has returned to the Chiefs with a new look. The three-time Super Bowl-winning tight end has grown his hair out.

Mahomes had been advising his pal to grow his hair, only to be ignored. However, Swift stepped in, and the Mahomes' advice has now been taken on board thanks to the intervention. Kelce has thrown it back to his early NFL years, rocking longer hair, albeit 11 full seasons later.

"You got the old man (Kelce). I've been trying to get him to grow his hair out and all of a sudden, Taylor gets him to do it," Mahomes admitted to NFL Radio. The pair will now spearhead Kansas City's historic efforts at completing a three-peat of Super Bowls in 2024.

Kansas City weren't at their best during the 2023 regular season but when push came to shove, they defeated the Miami Dolphins, Buffalo Bills, Baltimore Ravens, and the 49ers on their run to Super Bowl glory. "It wasn't like we have talked about it openly but after the Super Bowl (this year in Vegas) you saw that we were saying that we have got to go and do it," Mahomes added.

"But since we've gotten back, it's just football. I mean, we know what the process is - the day-by-day process of just getting better. This is the hardest week for us, coming back to St. Joseph (the practice camp) after that first preseason game. You saw guys feisty out there today. Guys want to be great and I think that's the best thing about it."

The Chiefs started the NFL preseason with a defeat to the Jacksonville Jaguars, though. The reigning champions were defeated 26-13 by the Jaguars at the weekend.

Mahomes and Co. will take on Caleb Williams and the Bears next in their second and final preseason outing before kickstarting their NFL campaign. The Chiefs will start against the Ravens on Sept. 5 at Arrowhead.
