Lamine Yamal's father 'stabbed in car park', Euro 2024 winner's dad rushed to hospital

The father of Lamine Yamal was rushed to the hospital after being stabbed , according to reports in Spain.

Mounir Nasraoui is said to have been stabbed in a car park in Mataró, a town in Catalonia. Outlet La Vanguardia reported that Nasraoui's condition was 'serious', while Relevo claimed he is now out of danger and recovering at home.

The Mossos d'Esquadra, the police force of Catalonia, are leading the investigation into the incident alongside the Mataro's municipal policing team. It is said to still be too early to determine what happened.

Nasraoui, 35, was just last month watching his son become the youngest player to appear and score at a European Championship as Spain found Euro 2024 glory. Yamal was a regular in his nation's starting XI and scored a crucial strike versus France to help Spain reach the final where they defeated England.

Yamal hails from the Rocafonda neighborhood, located in Mataro - 30km east of Barcelona's city center. Nasraoui, who arrived in Spain from Morocco aged nine believed his son would be a star from birth.

"I knew about my son when he was born," he said earlier this year. "I knew he was going to be a star. Whoever is a father knows it and any father wants his child to be the best.

"Not only in football, but also in the love [he gives] and as a person. He is a child and he has a blessing from God, which is very important and must be valued."
