Patrick Mahomes has praised Travis Kelce's work ethic t hroughout training camp with the Kansas City Chiefs with the quarterback seemingly very pleased with the play of his go-to receiver in an exciting update.

Heading into his 12th season in the league, Kelce remains the best player at his position and looks set to be Mahomes ' number-one option despite turning 35 in just a few weeks - with the quarterback putting that down to his incredible work rate throughout the offseason to remain in the best possible playing shape.

The Chiefs are now three weeks into their training camp and the same time away from the regular season getting underway as Mahomes as eased any doubts that fans might have of Kelce's play falling off this year.

Mahomes told reporters: "It's remarkable, honestly, you see him out there every day in practice and he is working, getting the reps. He actually gets mad when they take him out.

"He has all the right in the world and be on the sidelines, he knows all the stuff. But he loves it man, he loves working. And it makes my job easier to push the other guys because I can say look at the Hall of Famer out here practicing harder than anybody.

"That is what makes him so special - he enjoys the process of being great. Not just the top, winning the Super Bowl. The process of practicing, the process of little details... You heard stories of Jerry Rice and guys like that, when you're great like that you enjoy the process and it helps me lead other guys."

While Kelce will undoubtedly be Mahomes preferred option to throw to, Kansas City have made two big additions at the positions, bringing in wide receiver Marquise 'Hollywood' Brown and drafting speedster Xavier Worthy in the first round. The Chiefs will also be looking to see second-year professional Rashee Rice take a leap after an impressive rookie season operating from the slot.

The Chiefs come into the season as Super Bowl favorites, in hoping to become the first ever NFL franchise to win three consecutive championships.

And despite Mahomes' words on Kelce, 2024 had been his lowest year for receiving yards in 9 years - failing to register over 1,000 yards for the first time since 2015.
