Blake Lively called cast 'monkeys' in unearthed interview amid It Ends With Us drama

The long list of unappealing Blake Lively interviews that have come to light in the past few days keeps growing, and now one of her calling her Gossip Girl cast "monkeys" is making the rounds.

The actress has been catching some heat in recent weeks over the rollout of her latest movie It Ends With Us . The film was directed by Justin Baldoni , and eagle-eyed fans determined there was some tension between the actor and the rest of the cast, particularly with his leading costar, Blake.

Now a fan has taken to TikTok to share the moment when Blake was speaking at a panel back when Gossip Girl was on the air. The actress was recalling all the promises the producers made to her before she signed on for the role.

"Another promise was no pet monkey, Chuck has a matching pet monkey with coordinating outfits," she said. "And I was like 'I would love to be part of the show, but I can't act with a monkey.' And then I got a few of them."

Blake got some groans and straight faces from her costars, with someone on stage repeating what she said, "She's got a few of them," in a seemingly annoyed tone. "Oh, I'm just kidding, I'm just teasing," the actress said as she leaned into her costar, Leighton Meester, who was sitting next to her. "Come on, it was a joke. Lord have mercy."

The joke didn't land well with anyone, garnering just a few short laughs from the audience. Now a fan of the show shared the moment on TikTok and it's picking up steam, and the commenters are just as surprised as the actors were at the time. "I remember seeing this panel with the Gossip Girl cast and thinking that was such a weird comment to make and Blake's coworkers didn't seem amused lol," the person wrote.

"Probably not a good idea to call your coworkers monkeys and look at Leighton Meester lol," the fan wrote in the caption. "For context - she is talking about things they made the creators of Gossip Girl promise her if she agreed to do a tv show. One of them was no monkeys."

Fans began reacting to the interview in the comments, with some speculating as whether or not this was the reason Blake didn't seem as close to her costars from the hit show as they expected. "I always wondered why they weren’t besties in real life because Leighton is the sweetest but now I see why," one fan wrote.

"Maybe they didn’t seem amused because she ain’t close enough to make that kind of remark in the first place. That’s the worst part of it all," another added.

Blake has been facing plenty of criticism for another interview that took place in 2016 for her movie Cafe Society, in which the reporter congratulated her on her pregnancy and the actress snarkily said, "Congrats on your bump," before going off on a tangent about reporters only asking women about the style and wardrobe in movies.

The clip has left a bad taste in fans' mouths, especially after other interviews while promoting It Ends With Us, saying the actress has been acting too flippant during interviews while the movie centers around her character dealing with domestic violence.
