Jason Kelce punched brother Travis in face as tensions spilled over in basketball game

Jason Kelce and Travis Kelce are famously close but the NFL's most famous siblings once came to blows after tensions were sparked during a game of basketball when they were kids.

The brother duo have earned legendary status during their respective football careers, with the pair having both won the Super Bowl four times between them. Despite playing for opposing teams during that time, their bond has long been clear off the field- with their "New Heights Podcast" proving wildly popular in recent times.

Growing up in Cleveland Heights, Ohio, they did not always get along, though, with one tale from elder brother Jason showing that the pair had a sibling rivalry during their childhood. In fact, the Philadelphia Eagles legend even recalled that he once punched his younger brother in the face as tensions spilled over.

Recounting the story on Shaquille O'Neal's 'The Big Podcast', the one-time Super Bowl victor remembered that the skirmish was borne out out of an ill-tempered game of basketball at their home. He said: "We're out in the backyard and he starts just driving and doing these stupid shots,

"He's making it every single time and I can't do anything to stop it. So I resort to fouling him, the only way I know how to stop it," he continued, before admitting that he struggled to contain his irritation. "So he says "That's [...], that's a foul." I'm like "I don't see any refs out here, I don't see anyone calling it."

Revealing that he lashed out, the 36-year-old said: "He takes the ball, throws it at me, it goes in the house. I go in there, I grab him by the shoulder and I punch him. "Listen, we would fight every time. This was only the second time I'd ever punched him. I don't know how it got that heated.

"Punched him in the face. Every time before that, he would cry or whatever," he said, before explaining how his younger brother reacted. "He took this punch, scooped me up off my feet and slammed me on the kitchen floor so hard the oven got knocked off the tracks. I get up, we're in a full-on fist fight."

Jason hung up his cleats after 13 glittering years with the Eagles earlier this year and has embarked upon a career on TV since then as he prepares to join ESPN as an analyst. As the new NFL season fast approaches, the elder Kelce brother is set to join the panel on "Monday Night Countdown".

Meanwhile, younger brother Travis is putting in his preparations for the upcoming campaign as he looks to help the Kansas City Chiefs potentially pull off a Super Bowl three-peat. The tight end returned to Missouri for the team's annual camp recently, with their opening day game versus the Baltimore Ravens on Sept. 6.
