Alicia Silverstone , the Hollywood star best known for her role as Cher Horowitz in Clueless , has sparked concern among fans after she filmed herself eating a potentially poisonous berry.

The 47-year-old actress shared a video on TikTok where she was seen picking and biting into a small orange berry while exploring London, initially mistaking it for a tiny tomato. In the clip, which has garnered over 940,000 views, she said: "What the heck is it. I'm in England and can't figure it out." She further added: "I've discovered something that I can't figure out what it is and I need your help."

The former Batman and Robin star continued: "I just bit into it because I was on the street and we are discussing whether this was a tomato or not. It's definitely not because look at these leaves. I don't think you're supposed to eat this, but it's almost like a pepper."

Thousands of worried fans rushed to warn her that the unusual fruit could be poisonous. One fan warned: "Alicia, that's dangerous," while another suggested it might be a Jerusalem Cherry, also known as a Madeira Winter Cherry or Christmas Cherry.

One commenter advised: "Jerusalem Cherry bush. They're toxic if consumed in large quantities." Another added: "Jerusalem Cherry. It's mildly poisonous." "Is Alicia OK? We need an update," one concerned fan posted. "She's clearly clueless," another chimed in. "Do not eat them," a different user warned. Anxiety among fans has spiked as Alicia has yet to provide any news following her consumption of the berry.

The Royal Horticultural Society describes the cherries as growing on busy, evergreen shrubs with narrow, glossy leaves, typically thriving in bright light on patios, or in conservatories or greenhouses. While small amounts of the fruit and leaves have been used in traditional medicine, there are warnings that eating the fruit can lead to gastrointestinal issues. Those handling the plant are advised to wear gloves, and it is also noted that the plant could be dangerous to pets.
