Jennifer Lopez is reportedly "heartbroken" over the decision to file for divorce from Ben Affleck .
After months of divorce speculation, the 55-year-old pop singer officially filed for divorce on Tuesday, August 20, at a Los Angeles County Superior Court . A source close to the actress revealed to People that she was ready to "move on" after spending the majority of the summer away from her husband amid divorce rumors.
The insider told the news outlet: "She tried really hard to make things work and is heartbroken. They added: "The kids are a top priority, as they always have been.”

During Jennifer's first marriage with singer Marc Anthony, the pair welcomed 16-year-old twins Max and Emme.
From Ben's first marriage with actress Jennifer Garner, the former couple welcomed their three children including their 18-year-old daughter Violet, 12-year-old son Samuel, and 17-year-old son Fin. And since rekindling their romance, the pair have grown to become a blended family taking on a step-father and step-mother roles to each others' children.
Speaking on Jennifer's hard decision, another source claimed that J.Lo was tired of waiting to work out their marriage and is ready to "move on" after receiving no effort from Ben to save their relationship. The insider told People: "She's very disappointed and sad, but Ben hasn't given her any signs that he wants to continue their marriage."
Jennifer's divorce filing comes as the pair were recently reunited as the actress stopped by the Ben's home on his 52nd birthday last week. The Atlas star swung by her husband's home to join him and his children during his low-key at-home celebration. Ben 's ex-wife Jennifer Garner was also present for the birthday milestone as they continue to co-parent together.
The insider told People: "It's exactly what he wanted. He didn't want to go out to celebrate. The kids had gifts for him, and it was cute. Jennifer [Lopez] stopped by to congratulate him." But despite their big family get together, Jennifer moved forward with filing the court documents just one week later.
