Jennifer Lopez and Ben Affleck became Bennifer once again after rekindling their romance 20 years after they first split .
The celebrities dominated the early 2000s with their whirlwind romance that began when they both starred in the 2003 movie Gigli together. JLo and Ben first began dating and 2002 and became engaged soon after.
They split in 2004 and each moved on with their lives. JLo, 55, was married to Marc Anthony from 2004 to 2014, with whom she had twins Max and Emme.
Ben also settled down as he was married to actress Jennifer Garner from 2005 to 2018 and shares children Violet, Seraphina, and Samuel with her.
It wasn't until 2021, after the Wedding Planner star split from then-boyfriend Alex Rodriguez, that Jennifer and Ben reconnected. In 2021, Bennifer were spotted hanging out together in Los Angeles, California. Although they were seen publicly together around that time, a source revealed to People that they had “always been friends” with each other.
"They are friends. They have always been friends and they have seen each other through the years," a source explained to the news outlet. Meanwhile, a second source reported to People: "They have a great time hanging out. ... It's been years since they caught up properly. They have lots to talk about. They plan on hanging out again."
Not too long after Jennifer and Alex’s breakup, she and Ben were seen riding together in a car close to a resort in Big Sky, Montana, where Ben has a home.
"[Jennifer] spent several days with Ben out of town. They have a strong connection. It's all been quick and intense, but Jennifer is happy," a source revealed to People.
According to what a source told Entertainment Tonight, Ben “the one who began pursuing Lopez again after they remained on friendly terms following their 2004 split.”
Jenny from the Block and the Argo actor’s romance moved quickly for a second time. Near the end of 2021, Jennifer and Ben , 52, debuted their rekindled relationship on the red carpet at the Venice Film Festival. Additional red carpet appearances they were at in 2021 included the Met Gala.
Shortly after they attended JLo’s Marry movie premiere in February 2022, they got engaged in April 2022 for a second time. In July 2022, Jennifer and Ben got married in Las Vegas, Nevada, before having a second wedding in Georgia in August 2022.
There was much speculation that the couple were headed for divorce, especially after they sold their marital home in Beverly Hills, California, which they bought last year. Jennifer filed for divorce from Ben on Tuesday.
