Jennifer Lopez hints at the real reason she filed for divorce from Ben Affleck

Ben Affleck warned Jennifer Lopez that their marriage would fail if it was publicized again just months before their divorce.

Jennifer filed legal documents on Tuesday, August 20, in a Los Angeles County Superior Court . The two rekindled their love in July 2021 and married a year later in Las Vegas before celebrating in Georgia with their family and friends. The two originally began dating in 2002 but officially split in January 2004.

Jennifer documented their love in her latest album, This Is Me... Now in February, which was followed by a film. She then released a documentary, The Greatest Love Story Never Told, on Amazon Video, showcasing the making of her movie.

In one of the scenes of the documentary, Jennifer was speaking to a group about what Ben thought of her making a film and album about their love. She admitted that Ben did not feel comfortable with her "doing all of this" and him being her "muse" but he doesn't stop her

She said: "And then there’s the personal story of Ben and I that has never been told. I don’t think he’s very comfortable with me doing all of this, but he knows I’m an artist. He loves me."

Some recall that their relationship back in 2002 was publicized, something Ben did not appreciate as he is a private person. In the documentary, he expressed how certain things should be kept private.

He said: "Things that are private, I’d always felt are sacred and special because they’re private. So this was an adjustment." He added: "When Jen and I broke up before, the catalyst for that was this massive amount of scrutiny around our private life."

Jennifer planned the This Is Me... Now tour, but ended up cancelling it in late May, a month after the couple separated. Jennifer's representative said that the decision was made because she wanted to "take time off to be with her children, family and close friends." At the time, the two had not been spotted together for some time, having many raise eyebrows that their marriage turned a different direction.
