A nine-month-old died in a hot car after their grandmother left the baby alone in the vehicle for eight hours.

The child was left in their grandmother's car parked outside her home in Beeville, Texas , on Wednesday, August 21, according to police. Authorities found the child unresponsive strapped into their child safety seat at around 4pm on Wednesday, August 21.

Authorities said the child had been strapped in the car since 8:30am that morning. The highest temperatures in Beeville that day reached 106F.

The infant died one day after a 22-month-old child died after being left for hours in a hot car outside Tom Browne Middle School in Corpus Christi, Texas .

The school nurse performed CPR on the child before they were transported to nearby Driscoll Children's Hospital and later pronounced dead.

The child's mother Hilda Adame, 33, said she forgot to drop her child off at daycare, according to an affidavit filed by the Corpus Christi Police Department. Adame was arrested and charged with injury to a child and abandoning or endangering a child causing imminent bodily injury.

25 people have died in hot cars to date this year, according to Kids and Car Safety, an organization dedicated to keeping kids and pets safe in and around cars .

Kids and Car Safety’s founder Janette Fennell said: "Automakers do not have to wait for the final regulation to be issued requiring technology. They can add occupant detection technology to their vehicles today. An occupant detection and alert system could have gotten assistance to this sweet angel before it was too late,” Fennell said.
