WWE icon Sid Eudy, better known as "Sycho Sid" , has died at the age of 63.

Eudy was also known in WWE as "Sid and Sid Justice" and was a two-time WWF champion. His death was confirmed on Monday, with Sid having passed away following a long battle with cancer. His son Gunnar took to Facebook earlier today to share the news.

He said: "In Memory of My Father, Sid Eudy. Dear friends and family. I am deeply saddened to share that my father, Sid Eudy , has passed away after battling cancer for several years.

"He was a man of strength, kindness, and love, and his presence will be greatly missed. We appreciate your thoughts and prayers as we grieve this loss. Details for a memorial service will be shared soon.Thank you for your support. Sincerely, Gunnar Eudy."

Known for his imposing 6'9 size, Sid was one of the biggest stars of the 1990s, taking on the likes of Shawn Michaels, Bret Hart and Hulk Hogan, before having a stellar run in WCW too. During his time there, he was WCW World Heavyweight Champion on two occasions, as well as winning the WCW United States Heavyweight Championship once.

Fans took to social media to pay tribute. One posted: "Absolutely devastated to hear about the passing of Sid Eudy, better known to wrestling fans as Sycho Sid, Sid Justice and Sid Vicious. A top talent and world champion across multiple major promotions, he will be sorely missed."

Another called him: "One of the most underrated personalities in the history of the business."

A third mourning fan wrote on X: "Gutted. RIP Sycho Sid. This man scared me and made me feel like I could be his friend at the same time... Love to the family and friends of Sid Eudy."

Former colleague Marc Merro wrote: "So sad to hear that friend and wrestling superstar Sid Eudy (Sid Vicious & Sid Justice) has passed away at 63 years young from cancer. He was one of the first wrestlers i wrestled when i was trying out for WCW. What a great guy. My heart, thoughts and prayers go out to his family, friends and his millions of fans."

The WWE's official website writes that, were it not for a serious leg injury in 2001, then "Sid’s successes would likely have stacked up against the best in WWE history".
