Zach Wilson's touching moment with fiancee as NFL future becomes clear

In contrast to his disaster 2023 season with the New York Jets , Denver Broncos quarterback Zach Wilson seems to playing with a clear head for his new team.

After Denver's impressive 38-12 demolition of the Arizona Cardinals in the team's third and final preseason game, Wilson shared a touching moment on the field with his fiancee Nicolette Dellanno. The pair were engaged during a June trip to Italy, and she showed her support for the young quarterback by posting two stories of Wilson from the game.

The first was captioned "unbelievable" and featured Wilson's 46-yard touchdown to receiver Brandon Johnson. The second showed the couple embracing on the field after the game.

Wilson had arguably the finest game of his career against Arizona, albeit with the caveat of it being a preseason game with many opening-day starters absent.

The former New York Jet threw for 251 yards and two touchdowns on 16-25 passing. He even showcased his once-famed rushing ability, dashing for 22 yards and a score on two attempts.

Ultimately, his late preseason showing was not enough to win Denver's starting quarterback gig. Head coach Sean Payton recently named 2024 first-round pick Bo Nix as his first choice under center.

Wilson was very respectful when talking about how he wants his relationship with Nix to unfold: "I want him to play his best football. If I can be of any sort of resource or help to him, you want to have a unified room, that everyone can go in there and talk ball, protections, third down, whatever - bounce ideas off of each other."

Nix, the 12th pick in 2024 out of the University of Oregon, was the Pac-12 Player of the Year in 2023 as he threw for 4,508 yards with a sparing 45-3 TD-INT ratio. Payton did confirm that Wilson did enough to earn a spot on the 53-man roster, even claiming the signal caller was on "a bit of a heater" at recent practices.

“We have enough money. I understand the question. We feel comfortable with those three quarterbacks,” Payton said . “I think I have told you already, but I see the three of them making it.

“Look, he made some impressive throws. He's got a live arm down the field, I thought he threw it away when it wasn't there... [He] had plenty of time on the play clock, to get in and out of plays if need be."

Nix and the Broncos will open their 2024 NFL campaign on September 8 against the Seattle Seahawks . Even though Wilson will be on the sidelines, expect him to be in good spirits and a massive help to his team's young quarterback.
