Louis Rees-Zammit and his Jacksonville Jaguars teammates have been sent a warning from their owner who brandished their 2023 season as an 'organizational failure'.

Jaguars owner Shad Khan told reporters he'd been extremely unhappy with all involved with the end of their previous season as they limped to a 9-8 season and missed out on a place in the postseason.

Speaking on a video posted to the team's official YouTube page, Khan told his team: "About a month ago we celebrated the city's partnership with the Jaguars and the approval of funding for the new stadium of the future.

"So, I met with the reporters and the discussion obviously quickly turned to football and I was quoted, 'For us, winning now is the expectation.' So really I (have) been looking forward to tonight to set the record straight. I was not misquoted. And let me just repeat, winning now is the expectation."

He added: "Make no mistake, this is the best team assembled by the Jacksonville Jaguars, ever. Best players, best coaches. But most importantly, let's prove it by winning now."

The Jaguars have made some big additions to their roster ahead of the new season, adding eight starters in free agency while looking to have found an exciting playmaker in the first round of the draft in wide receiver Brian Thomas Jr.

And earlier this week, they added former Rugby speedster Rees-Zammit , who was surprisingly released from the Kansas City Chiefs having not made it onto their practice squad.

Rees-Zammit has already started practicing with his new team at the Miller Electric Center, and has been moved to a new position at wide receiver - one many had believed to be his optimal.

The Welshman has been assigned the IPP slot for the Jaguars, meaning he can remain on the practice squad while not being apart of the 16-man list - with him likely to stay on the team for the entire season after signing a deal.

It remains to be seen if Rees-Zammit will be used in the regular season, but has shown his impressive speed to coaches - having impressed Patrick Mahome s.
