A dad in Milwaukee pleaded guilty to the death of his 12-year-old son who was tortured to death before being left to rot on the couch in his living room.

In relation to the death of his 12-year-old son , Jacarie Robinson, Romuan Moye, 45, entered a guilty plea on Thursday to three counts of first-degree reckless homicide, chronic child negligence resulting in bodily damage, and failure to notify a child's death.

According to the authorities, Jacarie's starved and decaying body was discovered in October of last year in filthy, unkempt conditions on the couch at home, covered in a blanket. A criminal complaint claimed that the smell of mold, feces, and decomposition was overwhelming in the home.

“He was confined to a living room by his own father, a person who is supposed to love him, care for him, raise him, keep him safe, provide for him, slowly tortured him and killed him,” said Deputy District Attorney Matthew Torbenson in court. Moye reportedly told investigators that Jacarie died on October 3, 2023. It took seven days for his older brother to discover his body.

“A sight that not only haunts the brother but, quite frankly, it haunts members of the Milwaukee Police Department that I met with who went into that house, who observed this,” Torbenson said. Many individuals, including Judge Laura Crivello, are still in disbelief over what transpired. She gave Moye a prison term of more than 47 years.

“I don’t understand this at all. It’s unconscionable,” she said in court. “In my 30 years, the most vicious and aggravated thing I have ever seen. You are the highest level of dangerousness.”

Yalawn Robinson, Jacarie's mother, expressed her shock at the extent of her son's suffering. “When I read Jacarie’s autopsy, I could not believe it,” she said in court. On behalf of Moye, his lawyer read a letter to the family. “What I did to my youngest son was not my best at all, and it really hurts me that I could do something like that to my son,” the letter said.

The family stated that now that Moye will be imprisoned for many years, they can attempt to move on.

In July, a Houston man was sentenced to two life terms in prison for severely abusing two young children over a two-year period, including a variety of heinous acts such as withholding food because "it makes the children have to poop."

The 45-year-old Victor Prado was found guilty of hitting two young children, putting zip ties over them, and depriving them of food in 2019 and 2020, according to a press release issued by the Harris County District Attorney regarding Prado's sentencing.
