A former Love Is Blind contestant opened up about finding out she had cancer while pregnant.

Shania Hurley was on season two of Love Is Blind and got engaged to Kyle Abrams, which they both quickly cut off after their beliefs did not meet. After the show, she found love with husband Christos Lardakis and share their first baby , Yiorgos Davis, in February 1.

Shaina's pregnancy was not as glamorous as some might think. When going for a following a routine eight-week pap smear, the Love Is Blind star revealed that doctors told her she had Stage 2 cervical cancer .

She told PEOPLE : " I had no symptoms but later, the doctor called me and said the pap smear results had come back as abnormal and they needed to get me in for a colposcopy."

After a month, she underwent the procedure and the doctor in that moment told her that it was "not looking good." The doctors confirmed a day later that she had cancer.

She said: "I felt the fear creeping in but I knew then and there, I can't let the enemy take over my mind. I can't go down that dark hole. I had to go into survival mode and tell God, 'I trust you.' I just prayed for the best, at the end of the day."

Because Shaina was pregnant, the surgery doctors were suggesting for her to do chemotherapy to get rid of as much of the cancer as they could, but that was hard to do since it was in the cervix. She could have lost her baby and did not want to risk it.

She said: "It hadn't spread to the lymph nodes but they were still wanting to do chemotherapy. I still had no symptoms, so I did deny chemotherapy. It was hard for the doctors because I was their patient first. And I was a tough patient."

Shaina put the health of her and her baby first and would deny doctors when they suggested for her to deliver the baby at 32 weeks. This would have helped the doctors see if the cancer spread or changed but she pushed it. She gave birth to a "healthy baby boy." Two weeks after she gave birth, she had a mini-stroke (TIA) and recovered without any major side effects.

Four weeks later, she underwent the cold knife conization that doctors wanted her to get for months but it was unsuccessful. She did the procedure again after six weeks and as of June 2024, Shaina is cancer-free.
