Legendary rock band Linkin Park has a new project in the works that fans are excited yet nervous to hear.

Linkin Park shared the big news with a live audience of fans in Los Angeles, which was simultaneously live-streamed so it could be watched nationally and globally. The superstar rockers unveiled that the band had a new lead singer, Emily Armstrong, and a new album and tour were on the way with her as the frontwoman. Linkin Park went on a hiatus in 2017 following the death by suicide of the original lead vocalist Chester Bennington that year.

As of now the surviving members of the band include Rob Bourdon, Brad Delson, Mike Shinoda, Dave Farrell, and Joe Hahn.

Emily, who rose to fame with the band Dead Sara, is the most recent member. Mike, who is the sole rapper of the rap/rock band and the other lead vocalist, introduced their new song The Emptiness Machine. While he was performing, Emily came out and joined in on his performance. The Emptiness Machine is the lead single from their forthcoming album called From Zero, which drops on November 15. Their last album One More Light was released in May 2017, a few months before Chester’s death in July 2017.

Shortly after Linkin Park’s big reveal online X, formerly Twitter, exploded with comments from fans who couldn’t wait for their upcoming album. While several were elated that Linkin Park was making a comeback, they admitted that it was going to take time for them to adjust to Emily being in Chester’s spot.

"I have tears in my eyes.@linkinpark is f------- back. New album put Nov 15th too. It's been so long. Will [definitely] take some getting used to with Emily as the new lead, but I'm sure she'll do her best and honor Chester. F--- man I'm crying. #LinkinPark," one wrote on X.

Though many were candid about missing Chester, they were adamant about not looking at Emily as a "replacement" but rather the "new chapter" in the music group’s journey.

"Loving it! Emily is a great fit, don't care what anyone says! I've followed Linkin Park from the beginning, I was devastated when Chester left us," another raved. "This new chapter of @linkinpark looks amazing, Emily you are killing it - Hearing these songs again is emotional."

A second added, "You have to hand it to Emily, having to make a debut as a the front woman of one of the biggest bands of the last 30 years, and smashing it, let her flourish she’s not replacing Chester no one ever would, it’s a new era for Linkin park! Chester would’ve wanted this. #LinkinPark."
