Jason Kelce post on X backfires after botched 'Tush Push' almost costs Eagles win

Jason Kelce reacted hilariously to his ‘tush push’ tweet that immediately backfired and could have cost the Philadelphia Eagles the game.

The Eagles got off to a winning start in their NFL season opener against the Green Bay Packers with a 34-29 victory on Friday night in Sao Paulo, Brazi l, marking the first league game to be played in South America. The entertainment didn’t disappoint for the neutrals but the match proved to be quite nerve for the Philadelphia legend.

Kelce hung up his boots at the end of the 2023 season after 12 years with the Eagles, playing only in Philadelphia in his NFL career. And it appears that retirement won’t be any easier for him after he was left nervous watching his old team get their new campaign underway.

With only a minute left in the final quarter and the Eagles leading 31-29, Philadelphia had a scrimmage on the edge of the end zone. Unable to get his say to his former players watching from home, Kelce took to X where he revealed what his instructions would’ve been, writing: “Tush push to end it!!!!!”

But after the 'tush push' had been fumbled at the one, Kelce reacted by posting a GIF of Homer Simpson disappearing back into a hedge meme after his advice had failed. However, the drop didn’t prove costly in the end for the Eagles.

Reflecting on the game, Kelce took to social media again where he praised the Eagles result against a “very good” Green Bay team. “Eagles 1-0, great first game of the year against a very good Packers team,” he wrote. “Sloppy game, but when they were executing man, they are rolling. Lot of good in this one, clean up some of the first game jitters on O, and stop the explosives on D and we are rolling baby!!”

The Eagles' win saw running back Saquon Barkley make a dream debut for the team following his offseason move from the New York Giants. Barkley became only the second player in Eagles’ franchise history to score three touchdowns in their first game after Terrell Owens in 2004. The 27-year-old only recorded three touchdowns in a single game once in 76 appearances for the Giants, already matching that one debut at his new team.

Speaking about the game, Barkley said: "I think it's so special that out of all the guys we have on this team that's so talented, and today might have been my day scoring touchdowns, it was never no hate, no none of that. It was like, 'Go ahead, go get four.' That's what you need with a team like this that has so many stars. It's going to continue be like that going into the season."
