Tom Brady admits he is feeling anxious ahead of his debut in the announcers' booth on Sunday.

The seven-time Super Bowl champion will make his first appearance behind the microphone for FOX, joining Kevin Burkhardt for live coverage of the Dallas Cowboys' Week 1 showdown with the Cleveland Browns.

The former New England Patriots and Tampa Bay Buccaneers superstar signed a 10-year, $375 million deal to join FOX in the wake of his retirement. The 47-year-old was due to start his role last season, but he deferred it by a year to spend time with his family and pursue other interests.

  • He has also been learning his craft with Burkhardt and sideline reporters Erin Andrews and Tom Rinaldi, including practice calls of recorded games at FOX Sports' HQ in Los Angeles.

The long wait is almost over for Brady's broadcasting debut and he previewed his first game in the booth on FOX's "Big Noon Saturday".

He said: "I'm obviously super excited. There is a little anxiousness. There has been a lot of preparation that has gone into it from a lot of people and it's been a couple-year journey.

"The thing that is most exciting for me is getting back to NFL football, being up here in the booth. I've got the best partner with Kevin and Erin and Tom down on the field.

"There are a lot of great people I get to work with and I get to be part of a great team and I get to cover a sport I absolutely love. It kicks off tomorrow and I couldn't be more excited about the matchup. Dallas is coming to Cleveland and it's a great way for us to start the season and it can't get here fast enough."

Brady says his new colleagues have been invaluable in preparing him for his new career, which begins at 4.25 p.m. ET on Sunday.

"They've been absolutely unbelievable. I love coming to join great teams and I have that here at FOX and I have it with my crew," Brady continued.

"Getting to know Kevin over the past two years has been one of the best parts of this opportunity for me. We both love football and we see it a little differently.

"In a lot of ways, I am the rookie here. I want to earn it and go out there and do my best for them and for the fans. I want to provide a little bit of insight for the fans and help them understand the game a little bit deeper. I'm really excited about that."
