Jennifer Lopez and Sean 'P Diddy' Combs' relationship was doomed and the pop singer knew that.
She previously reflected on how the pair faced a multitude of issues in their relationship, including alleged infidelity from the rapper. Ultimately, according to J.Lo , she realized that she couldn't see a future with Diddy given the toxic nature of their relationship. It made it difficult for her to want a 10-year plan, including children .
The former Hollywood it-couple began dating in 1999, before splitting in 2001. During that time, their relationship, according to Jennifer, was erratic and unstable. They would apparently split often before she left him for the last time in February 2001.
She explained to Vibe Magazine that kids weren't on the table for the pair since she could recognize just how unsteady they were. J.Lo told the publication: ”I had to think, do I want to be home with kids in 10 years wondering where somebody is at three in the morning?”
Technically, as she admitted, Jennifer never caught Diddy in the act of cheating, but she allegedly "knew" as " he’d say he was going to a club for a couple of hours and then never come back that night.” This led Jennifer to try and hunt him down by running through hotels and knocking on doors.
J.Lo confessed: ”It was the first time I was with someone who wasn’t faithful. I was in this relationship with Puff where I was totally crying, crazy and going nuts, it really took my whole life in a tailspin.”
At the time of the conversation, she'd been through more relationships and was engaged to Ben Affleck for the first time. The pair would ultimately split before reuniting about two decades later. This time, they made the snappy decision to get married with J.Lo even detailing their tumultuous relationship in a special musical video production. However, it ultimately led to trouble as she filed for divorce in August 2024.
As for Diddy, relationships are the least of his concerns. The star is currently embroiled in a number of lawsuits, including those with heavy allegations like sexual assault and rape. Additionally, his Miami and Los Angeles homes were raided in connection to a sex trafficking investigation. He's vehemently denied all wrongdoing in these situations.
