A mass brawl erupted late into the game between the Los Angeles Chargers and Las Vegas Raiders , which led to two ejections in the fourth quarter .

Legendary head coach Jim Harbaugh won his first game with the Chargers after leaving Michigan who won the national championship. It was a close game between the Chargers and the Raiders until Los Angeles ran away with it in the fourth quarter, and tensions boiled over.

The Chargers scored two touchdowns in the fourth quarter, but running back Gus Edwards was stopped by the Raiders when attempting a two-point conversion. After the play was over multiple players started throwing punches, with Raiders cornerback Jack Jones getting into it with Chargers wide receiver Joshua Palmer.

Both players were quickly ejected from the contest with just 3:40 remaining on the game clock. The Chargers ran out 22-10 winners, as the Raiders made a poor start to the new NFL season.

The 10 points scored by the Raiders were their fewest in a season opener since losing 27-0 to the Chargers in 2006 when their opponents were formerly known as the San Diego Chargers. The Raiders initially started well, scoring an early touchdown through running back Alexander Mattison who completed a 31-yard play.

The game was cagey until the start of the fourth quarter, with the Raiders failing to add to their score while Chargers kicker Cameron Dicker converted three straight field goals to hand the Chargers control.

Chargers running back J.K. Dobbins then scored following a 12-yard touchdown run before the Raiders moved within one score with a field goal. Ladd McConkey then scored the decisive touchdown for the Chargers who were clinical when they needed to be.

An early win is the perfect start for Harbaugh, who is looking to put the Michigan controversies behind him and focus on life in the NFL. It was also a major comeback performance from Dobbins, who had 135 yards and a touchdown after suffering the second season-ending injury of his career last year.

Dobbins was selected by the Baltimore Ravens in the second round of the 2020 NFL Draft and scored nine touchdowns in his rookie season. He tore his ACL in preseason the following year and missed the entirety of his second season, and his third year was cruelly ended after suffering a torn Achilles.

After the game, Dobbins said on CBS Sports: "I've been praying hard, working hard, and it's no surprise to me because of the work I put in, the prayers I put in, I knew god had something for me. When I tore my Achilles, I told the guys at Baltimore 'I'm built for this'."
