    Mount Airy Middle students advance in history competition

    Danny Gallimore’s American History class from Mount Airy Middle School recently competed in the Regional National History Day competition at Surry Community College. This year’s theme was “Turning Points in History.”

    Several of the school’s students placed in their category and will compete in the State competition in May. They are:

    Individual Documentary: First place, Sarah Burney

    Group Documentary: First place, Garrett Norman, Juan Garcia Barrios; second place, Addie Hill, Madilyn Shough, and Brayden Jackson; third place, Paxton Slate, Martin Duenas, and Cayden Hudson

    Group Exhibit: First place, Makenzie Wall, Jaqueline Zamora; second place, Wendy De Jesus, Cassandra Ramirez; third place, Alyssa Asbury, Maniyah Simmons, and Camrie Dowell; third place, Jesus Torres, Lucas Tidd, and Elijah Smith.
