Looming over the hill is the start of the next fiscal year on July 1 and after months of planning sessions, meetings, and proposals the time has arrived for the residents of Surry County to get their first look at the operating budget proposed for next year. Half-Tone Folk Heroes exhibit opens at Blue Ridge Music Center
GALAX, VA — The visiting exhibit Half-Tone Folk Heroes: Traditional Musicians as Pop Art featuring illustrations by Gina Dilg will open with a reception from 3 to 4 p.m., Saturday, June 1, at the Blue Ridge Music Center. The works will be on display through October. Dilg is a Radford, Virginia-based visual artist and musician who brings a unique perspective to traditional American music. The most recent batch of local area Eagles Scouts were honored at the meeting of the Surry County Board of Commissioners on May 20. The board recognized the following individuals for obtaining the rank of Eagle Scout: Steven Snow, Colby Goins, Samuel Slate, and Nathan Dowell.
