WEYERS CAVE — Virginia State Police said two pedestrians were struck and killed by a van Saturday night in Augusta County.

The incident took place shortly before 9:30 p.m. near the Valley Pike Farm Market in the 3400 block of Lee Highway (U.S. 11), just south of Fadley Road.

Two unidentified people died at the scene.

Police said they were struck by a 2003 Dodge Caravan that was headed north on Lee Highway.

The crash remains under investigation by Virginia State Police.

It was the second incident involving multiple fatalities in Augusta County this week. On Monday, Aug. 12, three people were killed when a van was hit by a train in the 100 block of Wayne Avenue in Stuarts Draft.
