Puyallup police search for semi-truck driver who crashed into hydrant, flooding road

Police still do not know who hit a hydrant in North Puyallup and caused a water main break about two weeks ago.

Puyallup Police Department spokesperson Capt. Kevin Gill wrote in an email that as of Aug. 14, they are still attempting to locate and identify the semi-truck and the driver.

Gill did not respond to The News Tribune’s questions this week about how investigators know it was a semi-truck that hit the hydrant.

The water main break July 29 closed Valley Avenue East and Milwaukee Avenue East for several hours. About 10 inches of water covered the road.

The following day, the city closed one lane of Milwaukee Avenue just south of the Valley Avenue intersection to repair a 14-inch water main. The lane closure lasted all day.
