Bears' Jaylon Johnson Has Strong Advice for Caleb Williams

The Chicago Bears have the No. 1 overall pick in the NFL Draft, and with that selection, the consensus is that the franchise will select USC quarterback Caleb Williams.
Given Williams' impressive college tape and the comparisons to Patrick Mahomes, the excitement for what he could do in his first year is palpable.
But if Williams thinks it's going to be an easy ride and do what he did in college in the pros, he has another thing coming. Bears star cornerback Jaylon Johnson has given Williams some words of advice about how to conduct himself in the Chicago locker room.
Johnson said on the Up & Adams Show:
"You just humble your stuff coming into the build," Johnson said. "You can’t bring that Hollywood stuff into the building, especially with guys who played this game at a high level for consecutive years in the league. What you did in college, the Hollywood, it’s like, ‘Nah, you gotta prove yourself. That stuff like that doesn’t matter.’"
Williams is thought to be the franchise-altering player that the Bears thought Justin Fields would be. After the organization has been aggressive in free agency, adding Keenan Allen to pair with D.J. Moore, D'Andre Swift, Gerald Everett, Coleman Shelton, and Kevin Byard, moves have been made to help Williams' transition into the NFL.
But Johnson won't always play the bad cop, as he knows that the franchise's future ultimately rests on Williams' shoulders.
"I think there’s a fine line between trying to prove a point to him, but also getting to know him," Johnson said. "At the end of the day, we want him to be the absolute best he can be. That’s what we’re bringing him in for, to win games. Truly just learning who he is as a person and learning him deeper than just all the Hollywood stuff you see, but actually trying to learn and get to know him and then knowing from there what pushes him."
If Williams is selected by the Bears, the move will be met with excitement, but the USC Star now knows that he can't walk into the building thinking he's ready to roll as the Bears veterans will help assure him that he's starting from scratch.
