The Oklahoma City Police Department reported that an officer shot a suspect on Monday after he confronted officers with a pistol.

Around 4 p.m. on Monday, Oklahoma City police responded to a call regarding a man who reportedly fired shots at another person. They found the suspect, a 24-year-old male, barricading himself inside the residence on Southeast 116th Street.

The suspect refused officers' commands to come out, police say, before he broke through an attic wall and fired shots at officers. He then jumped to the ground from the hole in the attic wall, and moved to the back of the house where he confronted officers with a pistol, according to OKCPD.

That's when a member of the OKCPD Tactical Unit, Sgt. Jesus Hernandez, shot the suspect who is at an area hospital.

No other injuries were reported, and Hernandez has been placed on routine administrative leave pending the outcome of the investigation.
