Walker Area Community Center – Community Update

    By staff reports,

The Walker Area Community Center (WACC) staff and Board of Directors have been diligently preparing for an important update to the community and have scheduled two dates for this meeting.

The meeting will take place at 11:30 a.m. Sept. 8 and at 6 p.m. Sept. 12, where the organization will present to the public the roadmap forward and host a Q&A.

The WACC has recently adopted new policies and procedures to ensure more accurate and reliable reporting on important historical data. These new initiatives for more transparent and automated processes within bookkeeping, scheduling, member communications, donor management, and other common tasks managed by the organization will allow for this valuable community asset to be utilized more frequently.

“We are on pace for an August delivery to pilot the 24/7 access and will begin transitioning members into the new system in waves to avoid any large surprises,” says WACC Executive Director Chad Trapier. “We don’t have a definitive date for everyone to be in the new system yet, but we are working on this as a top priority and intend to remove the old systems and processes well before the end of the year.”

The community center is integrating many new moving parts simultaneously and it’s important they have an opportunity to test the functionality of each element thoroughly before decommissioning any older systems or processes. We remind the community to have patience and understanding while the WACC works on bringing everyone over to the new system in a responsible manner.

To help contribute to the forward movement, you can sign up to volunteer and/or make a donation on their website www.WalkerAreaCommunityCenter.com

The WACC is especially looking for in-kind professional services ranging from graphic design, web design (WIX), landscaping, plumbing, general handyman services and more. For more information, call (218) 547-1853.
