Cass County Board approves MnDot agreement for Hackensack roundabout
The Cass County Board convened their regular meeting Aug. 20 at the May Township town hall, where they approved an agreement with MnDOT for the reconstruction of Highway 371 in Hackensack in 2025. County Engineer Darrick Anderson said this project includes the construction of a roundabout at the intersection of County 5 and and Front Street. Resurfacing project begins on Highway 2 in Cass Lake Sept. 9
BEMIDJI — The Minnesota Department of Transportation announces a resurfacing project on Highway 2 in Cass Lake beginning Sept. 9. Construction crews will resurface Highway 2 from east of Highway 371 to east of Cass County Road 206. Motorists will see short-term lane closures, delays and flagger operations. The Aug. 21 issue of The Pilot-Independent carried a beautiful supplement of our new Walker Library. It was interesting to look back at the many pictures taken at the beginning of the construction and continuing to the final phase. The Union Congregational Church is changing it up a bit with 100 percent of the profits from our fundraising meals going to local non-profit organizations. LongBow Ladies Golf League Aug. 28 report
A rather cool Aug. 28 morning found 10 members and one guest in the LongBow Ladies Golf League teeing off. Game of the day was a best net called 6-6-6, in which three best nets were counted on holes 1-6, two best nets on holes 7-12, and one best net on holes 13-18. The winning team scored 126 points contributed by Louise Hay, Jean Marie Merrick, Hope Olson and guest Joyce David. Second place went to Kathy Newton, Laura Varner, Cathy Wierzbicki and Patty Putter with a score of 132. Longest putt on hole 3 was by Kathy Severson. Pat Roush was closest to the pin on 12. Olson recorded low gross with an 89. She also had low net with a 69.

The Hackensack City Council got a closer look at the agreement for the long-anticipated Highway 371 reconstruction project, set for summer 2025.
