Say hi to the new Christian shop, Alter’d Space, that opened downtown on May 11. The store owner is Nichole Holley, a Cairo resident, who always wanted to open a Christian store. “I’ve always had very strong beliefs, and in my faith. God has been so good to me personally, and my family, I mean, I say like ‘How can you not?’”

The store’s name, Alter’d Space, brought many questions about the name’s meaning. Holley states that the store’s name was God-given. “This is one thing with Alter’d Space, so like the name was truly god-given because I was struggling and then I walk into service one morning and alter was the sermon, but the church alter, and when I saw the flame, I was like, ‘Oh, we’re gonna set the world on fire,’ or at least a community, because God always altering me, and you always have space to grow in him.”

Holley’s store offers merchandise that has history and meaning. “I didn’t want something that just every box cutter store or franchise had, and I wanted to support stuff. So, our t-shirt group is a Sunday night service. They are a mission base out of North Georgia, and proceeds go to their community. I have Roll-On bracelets for human trafficking against men and women. My firefly candle company is for a group in Texas for women that have gone through that, but now they house and let people regroup and rebuild their lives.” In addition, she offers jewelry and pop-ups, which are gift boxes for any occasion.

Holley came to Bainbridge because she and her family love the community and share good memories. “I fell in love with the community in Bainbridge, and the growth shows commitment from the community. My mom and I come over at Christmas or come have lunch like the last few years as development has been going on just around the square, and it’s just been something that we’ve always loved.” In addition, Holley’s son is also a student at Grace Christian Academy so, her love for Bainbridge and community grew, “being a part of Grace, which that community in itself shines at a lot for Decatur County. And after being a part of that, my husband and I are like, ‘How would we not want to be a part of Bainbridge?’”

Holley states that Alter’d Space is a place that “always pushes the community over competition, growing together, spreading positivity, and just honestly keeping Jesus first.”

Alter’d Space is located at 202 N. Broad St.
