Are you ready for some – high school – football

    By Will Richmond, Providence Journal,

Good morning, I'm Will Richmond at The Providence Journal and this is the Daily Briefing.

I wasn't exactly in a rush to sit down Sunday night and watch the Patriots' final preseason game against the Washington Commanders. Sitting on my deck, I received an alert on my phone about the play Jacoby Brissett was injured on. At that point, I figured I'd start watching the game to see how rooking Drake Maye would perform.

While there were some sparks, I was reminded that Patriot games are going to be a tough watch this season.

Fortunately, there is an alternative for local football fans.

The state's high school fields are about to be filled up. Games can be found Thursday through Saturday and of course our team will be there.

To get you ready, The Journal's Jacob Rousseau has put all of our preseason coverage into one place. Here you'll find everything from schedules to players to watch. As our team continues to preview the year to come, you'll find even more stories in this one-stop spot.

Maybe this year forget the Patriots and make a plan to follow your local high school team with help from our squad.

Inside the sprawling mill, the Big Top Flea Market, multiple furniture retailers, artists and light manufacturers reside and their future is uncertain.

The Journal's Wheeler Cowperthwaite has the latest as the building now sits in "pending" status.

    • The governor's office is touting a new $15 billion Medicaid contract. Two companies, however, say there's a problem with the deal.

The Journal's Katherine Gregg has the details.

    • Is Rhode Island T.F. Green International Airport the best small airport in the U.S.? You can help decide.

The Journal's Paul Parker reports that it has already been placed in the top 20 by USA Today, but now a vote will determine the top spot. Here's how you can vote.

    • Barrington is about to get a new fast-casual restaurant. The Journal's Gail Ciampa has details on what's coming and when it will open.
