Cherokee's Barker signs with UVA Wise

ROGERSVILLE — Lady Chiefs’ golfer Lilli Kate Barker will be continuing her athletic career at the college level. She signed scholarship papers with UVA Wise in a ceremony on Wednesday, April 10, at Cherokee High School.

“UVA Wise is my favorite of the schools I visited. I’m really excited about it,” Barker said. “I’ve been wanting to play in college for three years now, and now that it’s here I’m really excited about it. I’m looking forward to it and excited to see what’s to come in the future.”

She is the daughter of Scott and Terri Barker.

Cherokee High School golf coach (and sister) Kelli Lawson said, “I’m a proud coach and sister. She’s worked hard, and she deserves it.”

UVA Wise is an NCAA Division II school and competes in the South Atlantic Conference.
