Sports briefs: Rogersville Flying Fish seeking swimmers

ROGERSVILLE — The Rogersville Flying Fish will hold an informational meeting and summer swim signup session on Friday, April 19, from 5-7 p.m. at the Rogersville Parks and Recreation Building. Anyone age 6 and older who can swim across the pool independently is eligible to swim with the Flying Fish in the East Tennessee Swim League. Second-chance signups and a kickoff pool party will be held June 2 at the Rogersville City Pool.

Sports physicals April 20 at Cherokee

ROGERSVILLE — Sports physicals for the 2024-25 school year will be available Saturday, April 20, from 8:30-11:30 a.m. in the Cherokee gym. All student-athletes must have an updated physical on file for all summer tryouts, workouts and conditioning. The cost is $10 per athlete. Packets are available in the school’s main office or on the Cherokee High School website. The physicals are mandatory for all CHS athletes. Middle School athletes may also attend.

VHS cheerleading tryouts coming up

CHURCH HILL — Volunteer High School will host cheerleading tryouts April 23-25 from 3:30 to 5:15 p.m. each day in the school gym. Tryouts are open to all rising freshmen through senior Volunteer High School students, male and female. Athletes must have an updated physical on file with the athletic trainer to participate in tryouts. SMS Booster Club plans bounce day

SURGOINSVILLE — The SMS Booster Club will host a bounce day at Riverfront Park in Surgoinsville on Saturday, May 11, from 11 a.m. to 7 p.m. The cost is $10 per child to bounce all day. Concessions will be available.
