    The Gap hosting $10,000-to-win Scorcher

    BULLS GAP — Volunteer Speedway will host the $10,000-to-win Super Late Model Scorcher on Thursday, Sept. 19.

    Racing will include the 50-lap Super Late Model “Scorcher” with its $800-to-start and $10,000-to-win purse, a 25-lap combined Crate/Sportsman Late Model event ($1,000-to-win), a 20-lap Street Stock feature ($600-to-win), and Front Wheel Drive (20 laps, $500-to-win).

    Fans will have an opportunity to win too, as country music artist Carl Wayne Meekins will be at The Gap to sing the national anthem and will host a drawing for a guitar to be given away during the event.

    Tickets can be purchased in advance or at the gate.

    Adult grandstand admission is $30, with kids 5 and under admitted free with a paying adult. Adult pit and tier-parking is $40, with kids 5 and under admitted free. Pit gates will open at 3 p.m., with grandstands opening at 4 p.m.

    Outside food and drinks are not permitted in the front straightaway grandstands. Fans are welcome to bring lawn chairs.
