NORTHERN SCHUYLKILL – The following is a collection of police incidents reported by local law enforcement agencies in our region.

    Burglary

RINGTOWN – A Shenandoah man is facing felony burglary charges, accused of swiping aluminum from his former employer.

Dennis Bugden, 48, of 30 South Main Street, was arraigned Friday.

According to the criminal complaint filed by Trooper Nicholas Reese of the State Police at Frackville, Bugden entered the Jeld-Wen factory in Ringtown in the overnight hours through a shipping dock door, swiping several bundles of aluminum in his girlfriend’s car.

Troopers said he was caught on camera both inside and outside the facility wearing a curly brown wig.

Later in the day, he tried to sell the metal — worth $211.80 — to SOS Metals near Mount Carmel.

Employees at the plant said that, dating back to July 2023, missing metal had been an issue.

Bugden was arraigned and released on $20,000 unsecured bail. A preliminary hearing is set for July 17.

    Fleeing

ASHLAND – A Columbia County man is wanted after state troopers say he led them on a chase on a bike.

Nathan Hays, 42, of 110 Legion Road, Montour Township, is wanted on felony fleeing and over 70 traffic violations for the pursuit.

According to the criminal complaint filed by Sergeant Thomas Hornung of the State Police at Schuylkill Haven, Hornung was on patrol in Ashland on July 3 when he saw a black motorcycle run a stop sign and turn without a turn signal.

He attempted a traffic stop, at which point the motorcycle fled. The motorcycle stopped and let a female passenger off, who identified the driver as “Nate,” before the bike continued on.

The pursuit left Ashland towards Centralia via Route 61, where the bike weaved in and out of traffic, nearly causing three head-on collisions, Hornung wrote.

The bike nearly lost control in Centralia, where the seat fell off and was collected by police.

Troopers continued to give chase until Numidia, when, with a plate number obtained, the chase was called off for safety.

Hays was later identified as the operator of the bike and a warrant has been issued.

    Vehicle Accident

MAHANOY CITY – A Mahanoy City man was cited after state troopers said he struck a parked car and fled the scene.

State Police at Frackville said the crash happened around 1am on June 30 at Main Street and Brandonville Road.

Jostin Caba, 24, of Mahanoy City, was headed north on Main Street in a 2004 Honda Accord when he drove straight through the intersection and struck a parked car in a parking lot. Troopers said he was driving too fast for road conditions.

The vehicle was disabled and had to be towed.

Caba left the scene and was found at his home, troopers said. He was not injured, but was cited for the crash.
