SHENANDOAH – Next month, first responders in three area communities will hold events to help connect the community with those who serve.

In Shenandoah, the Shenandoah Community Ambulance Association, Shenandoah Fire Department, and Shenandoah Police Department are joining forces to hold their annual National Night Out event on August 6 from 5pm to 8pm.

It’ll be held in the parking lot behind the ambulance headquarters at 229 North Main Street.

Emergency vehicles will be displayed and activities will be held. Community resources will also be present.

As of Tuesday, Smokey the Bear had signed on to visit, and informational booths will be set up by the Schuylkill County 911 Center, the Lehigh Valley Health Network, SARCC, Schuylkill County’s VISION, and more.

In Ashland, the Ashland Fire Department and Ashland Police Department are teaming up to host their Community Night Out on August 6 from 5:30pm to 7:30pm at Memorial Field.

If it rains, activities will be moved to August 8.

There will be door prizes, free hot dogs courtesy of the Ashland American Legion, free pierogies courtesy of Mrs. T’s Pierogies, and more.

Emergency vehicles will also be displayed, as will borough equipment.

Nearly two dozen organizations are signed on so far. The Schuylkill County Emergency Management Agency will be displaying their mobile command post, and the Ashland Elks will provide free fire extinguishers, smoke alarms, and CO detectors.

In East Union Township, the East Union Township Crime Watch group, East Union Township Police, and the Sheppton-Oneida Volunteer Fire Company are hosting a National Night Out event at the firehouse in Sheppton on August 6 from 5pm to 8pm.

Emergency vehicles, food, music, and community organizations will all be present.
