How much ice cream can you eat? Surfside Creamery's new challenge might be for you.

NEW BEDFORD — Have you ever eaten a full carton of ice cream in one sitting and thought, "If this was an Olympic sport, I would get the gold." Well, now you can put your skills to the test for Surfside Creamery's first-ever Frozen Face-Off challenge on Aug. 31.

On Saturday, from 11 a.m. to 12 p.m., the ice cream spot at 26 Brock Ave. will be hosting an event challenging participants to put their ice cream-eating skills to the test as they compete for the title of "Frozen Face-Off Champion."

The rules are simple — in one hour, contestants must choose a flavor of their choice and eat as much as they can. The person who can handle the most creamy, frozen goodness will be crowned the 2024 "Frozen Face-Off Champion" and will walk away with not only the prestigious title, but also a $100 Surfside Creamery gift certificate.

The event will also feature live musical entertainment from DJ Maxwell Kane, making it a fun and festive atmosphere for all.

The entry fee is $25 per participant, and there are no age restrictions on who can join in on the fun. To register for the Frozen Face-Off, you can call Surfside Creamery at 508-990-0065 or stop by their location at 26 Brock Ave. in New Bedford.

As of Monday, Aug. 26, with the exceptions on weekday holidays such as Labor Day and Columbus Day, Surfside changed their hours to 4 p.m. to 9 p.m. on weekdays and noon to 9 p.m. on Friday through Sunday.
