Jamarion Bardwell, Sacred Heart-Griffin, boys track and field
The junior soared to first place in the Class 2A Rochester Sectional with a personal best of 45 feet, 8 1/2 inches in the triple jump.
Kani Carson, Lincoln, boys track and field
The senior earned first place in the 400-meter dash in 50.29 and the 4x400 relay in 3:25.51 with teammates Ben Crombie, Luke Jones and twin brother Ki’on Carson.
Becca Heitzig, Lincoln, girls track and field
The senior long-distance runner snapped up her third straight gold medal in the Class 2A 800-meter state run at O'Brien Field in Charleston. She crossed the finish line in 2:09.55 seconds for her best run of the season. She proceeded to win her first ever top podium in the 1600 with a time of 4:58.82.
Rowann Law, Chatham Glenwood, girls soccer
The junior standout unleashed two goals to rally the Titans to a 3-2 victory over Springfield High and capture the Class 2A regional title on Friday.
Katelyn Lehnen, Chatham Glenwood, girls track and field
The junior sprinter snapped up her first ever gold medals in both the Class 3A 100- and 400-meter dash events. She wound up fourth place in the 200 to end the afternoon in the state meet at O'Brien Field in Charleston. She won the 100 in 11.69 seconds ahead of Chicago Whitney Young's Angelena Bullocks' 11.76 before surging down the homestretch to a personal best 54.81 in the 400.
Micahel Matesa, Staunton, boys track and field
The senior swept the 110- and 300-meter hurdles in 15.38 and 40.84 at the Class 1A Carlinville Sectional and assisted the 4x100 relay to first place in 43.48 with teammates Ethan Rantanen, Nathan Oller and Trace Trettenero. The Bulldogs won the sectional title as a team.
Owen Morgan, Taylorville, boys track and field
The senior long-distance runner nabbed the Class 2A Rochester Sectional title in the 1600 in 4:22.66 and was runnerup in the 800 in 1:56.96.
Addison Wheatley, Auburn, softball
The junior hit a bases-loaded walk-off single to center field in the bottom of the eighth inning and Auburn captured the Class 2A regional championship with a 1-0 victory over Carlinville on Friday.
