82-year-old man arrested in Avon Park after he allegedly killed his stepson in domestic battle

(AVON PARK, Fla.) An 82-year-old man allegedly killed his stepson after a dispute in Avon Park on Friday, authorities said, according to WFLA.

According to the Highlands County Sheriff's Office, deputies reported to the Knoll-Century Hill Mobile Home Park on Rally Road just before 11 p.m. and discovered a 43-year-old man who was shot. He was transported to Advent Health Sebring where he was pronounced dead, per WFLA.

Officials identified the shooter as Geri German Harvell, the 43-year-old's stepfather. Deputies said Harvell and his stepson were in an argument before the shooting took place.

Harvell was apprehended on a second-degree murder charge and placed in a Highlands County Jail.

Deputies were investigating the shooting as of Tuesday afternoon.
