Hendersonville's Josh Berry was in position to contend for his first career win in the NASCAR Cup Series with a lap and a half to go, but his race on Saturday at Daytona International Speedway ended when his car slid on its roof.

Berry and Austin Cindric got together down the backstretch late in the Coke Zero Sugar 400 while battling for the lead, and Berry flipped over once. The car landed on its roof, hit the inside wall while sliding upside down before spinning like a top until he stopped.

Berry's car was flipped back on its tires soon after the crash ended, and he got out of his No. 4 Ford under his own power with a thumbs-up to the crowd.

Take a look via NBC and NASCAR:

"It was probably wasn't as bad as it looked," Berry said to NBC after being checked and released from the infield care center.

Berry had a good race up to that point, winning the first stage and showing good speed in pushing and moving forward in the nose-to-nose pack racing.
