With the events scheduled so closely together, fans may have to miss the beginning of Team USA men’s basketball clash with Serbia to watch American sprinter Noah Lyles race for gold.

Team USA is looking to advance to the gold medal game with a win against Serbia.

The semifinal winner between the USA and Serbia will face either France or Germany in the gold medal game.

Team USA is hunting for its fifth straight gold medal at the Olympics for men’s basketball.

Meanwhile, fans have been enamored by Lyles after he anointed himself the world’s “fastest man.”

Lyles backed up his talk by winning the Men’s 100m in a photo finish over rival Jamaican’s Kishane Thompson .

The Team USA sprinter got out of the blocks slowly, but his top speed helped him overcome Thompson at the line.

The 27-year-old finished the race with a time of 9.79 seconds, the fastest time of his career.

He was four-thousandths of a second ahead of Thompson, who finished with almost the exact same time.

Lyles exploded with excitement after he was announced as the winner in the stadium and charged towards the camera to make a statement to the world.

“I told you!” he yelled to the world.

Lyles became the first American man to win the 100m since 2004 when Justin Gatlin won in Athens.

But now Lyles is looking to make history and do what legendary track star Usain Bolt couldn’t even accomplish.

Lyles has the 200m to come, along with the 4x100m, and he may decide to race in the 4x400m relay too.

If the Team USA sprinter secures four golds, it will bring back memories of Carl Lewis.

Lewis won the sprint double, sprint relay, and long jump titles at the Los Angeles Olympics 40 years ago.

Bolt dominated the sport for a decade but never accomplished the feat of winning four golds at a single Olympics.

The Jamaican legend picked up three gold medals on the track at both the London 2012 and Rio 2016 Olympics.

If Lyles wins the 200m he will be the first American to win the event since Shawn Crawford did in Athens in 2004.

Lyles will have stiff competition in the 200m race including from fellow American Kenny Bednarek.

Bednarek finished just 0.06 seconds behind Lyles at the US Olympic trials this year with a personal best time of 19.59s.

The Team USA sprinter is already up to his antics as he has begun trash-talking ahead of the event.

At a press conference ahead of the 200m, Lyles said “he was winning” when asked if he was confident heading into the event.

“When I come off the turn, they will be depressed,” he said.
