Soaking it takes ages, scrubbing it takes an extreme amount of effort and often we just end up leaving the pan in the sink for someone else to deal with.

However, one expert has revealed how to stop the food from sticking to the pan in the first place.

Taking to TikTok, kitchenware company Proclamation Goods revealed that the reason the food sticks is because people aren't heating their pans up properly.

"This test will prevent your food from sicking to your pans", she said.

The woman in the video explained that to prevent food from sticking, you just need to do a simple check to see if the pan is hot enough, before adding your food in.

To do this, put your pan on a medium heat, and add a spoonful of water to it.

If the water is still or just sits in the pan, it's not hot enough.

If the water splits into tiny beads, then it's too hot.

The woman revealed that if the pan is the perfect temperature, the water will "glide around in one piece" and "look like mercury."

The hack is so simple, and will likely save you so much time cleaning.

The video, has left many in shock, and has gone viral, racking up over 15 million views.

TikTok users raced to the video's comments section to share their thoughts, with many extremely impressed by the trick.

One person said: "Good to know! I've recently bought stainless steel pots and pans."

Another person said: "Used this today! It works."

A third person added: "Thank you, I'm new to cooking and I love seeing important tips and tricks on how to be better."

A fourth person chimed in: "I’ve learned more on TikTok than school!"

A fifth remarked: "Most useful hack I've learned all month!"
