BEFORE you spend a fortune on treatments, a beauty spa owner says there are some at-home remedies that can combat dark under-eye circles.
Georgina East shared tips for rejuvenating skin under the eyes — and warned that being too "salty" isn't helping your complexion.

Speaking to The U.S. Sun, she revealed the most effective methods for brightening dark circles.
HOME HACKS
Quality sleep topped her list of the five must-try tips for brightening under-eyes.
She said that, ideally, you should be getting seven to eight hours of sleep every night — and sleeping the right way makes a difference, too.
“Try elevating your head when sleeping, use an extra pillow to prevent fluid from pooling under your eyes,” she advised.
Applying cold cotton wool pads can also reduce swelling and shrink dilated blood vessels.
The pro said that sun exposure should also be minimized to reduce the appearance of dark circles, and she recommends routinely wearing sunscreen or a hat to protect against harsh UV rays.
Her fifth tip is limiting salt intake.
“Excess salt can cause fluid retention and puffiness,” she said.
DIMINISH DARKNESS
East said there are a few reasons why the skin under your eyes may appear darker than the rest of your face.
Among them are lifestyle factors such as smoking, alcohol consumption, and stress.
“As you get older, your skin becomes thinner, and blood vessels beneath it become more visible, leading to dark circles,” she said.
“Lack of sleep or oversleeping can make your skin appear dull and pale, causing dark circles.
Prolonged sun exposure or injury can contribute to dark circles forming under your eyes.
“Sleep deprivation may also lead to fluid buildup under the eyes, making them look puffy.”
Allergic reactions can also trigger dark circles with itchiness causing inflammation and broken blood vessels that lead to pigmentation.
And dark circles become more pronounced if the body isn’t well hydrated.
“Prolonged sun exposure or injury can contribute to dark circles forming under your eyes,” she added.
POWERFUL PRODUCTS
If you've tried everything and are still struggling, East said there are some “amazing” salon treatments and professional products that target dark circles.
Active ingredients such as vitamin C and retinoids can work wonders in skincare.
Alternatively, she recommended a treatment that focuses on stimulating collagen production to tighten the skin and reduce puffiness.
SKNfluence is among the clinics offering NeoGen Plasma to reduce the signs of aging on the skin.
“By treating the entire skin architecture, NeoGen Plasma addresses various cosmetic concerns simultaneously,” East said.
“It boosts elasticity, firms the skin, and smoothens fine lines and wrinkles.
“Unlike fractional laser treatments that produce only one type of collagen, NeoGen treats all four types of collagen, promoting overall skin health.”
