THE 2024 Olympics has reached a thrilling conclusion after 16 spectacular days in Paris.

Last time out, GB finished fourth in the standings three years ago in Tokyo with 22 gold medals and 64 in total.

But it was USA who came out on top then with a whopping 39 golds from 113 medals.

In six of the last seven Olympics the USA have finished top of the medal standings, with China coming out on top in their home games in Beijing 16 years ago.

Team GB won 65 medals so far – in total one more than the 64 from Tokyo.

Though GB won fewer gold medals, with 14 in Paris and 22 in Tokyo.

The USA TOPPED the medal table, finishing above China on medals won after both won 40 golds.

US won the very last event – the women’s basketball – to seal their place as the top nation.
