Harry Kane refuses to lift trophy after finally winning silverware at Tottenham on return with Bayern Munich

BAYERN MUNICH superstar Harry Kane finally won some silverware but refused to lift the trophy against his former club at Tottenham.

Kane, 31, hasn’t won any titles during his stunning 14-year career despite him becoming Spurs and England ‘s all-time top goalscorer.

But the star striker finally got a little taste of silverware on Saturday when he returned to the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium for the first time after leaving the North Londoners last year.

The England striker helped Bayern beat Ange Postecoglou’s side 3-2 in their last pre-season friendly when he came off the bench in the 80th minute to receive a warm ovation from the home fans that never got to say goodbye.

The Bavarians won the unofficial Visit Malta Cup, which represented a piece of silverware for Kane , albeit far from a major honour.

Nevertheless, the centre-forward proved his undying allegiance to Tottenham by refusing to lift the award after full-time.

The camera caught Kane’s Bayern team-mates asking him if he wanted to get in on all the fun but Vincent Kompany ‘s captain seemingly said no as he repeatedly shook his head.

That show of respect moved fans on social media and led to immense praise for the star forward.

One fan tweeted: “Kane shows his class! Respect for the Tottenham legend refusing to lift the trophy against his former club.”

Another posted: “Very classy.”

A third wrote: “Respect!.”

This fan said: “I like this guy man.”

And that one stated: “Great man.”

Maddison was handed Kane’s No10 shirt after arriving at Spurs and hit the ground running with three goals and five assists in his opening 11 matches.

His pace, athleticism, and technical ability on the ball have made him arguably Postecoglou’s best signing to date.

9) Moussa Sissoko – £29.8m

Sissoko came to North London for a substantial fee after being relegated with Newcastle and went on to enjoy five years at Tottenham, playing more than 200 games.

Unfortunately for the French midfielder, he is best-known for giving away a controversial penalty for handball in the first minute of Spurs’ 2-0 Champions League final defeat to Liverpool in 2019.

10) Giovani Lo Celso – £27.2m

Lo Celso joined on loan from Real Betis in 2019 – a deal that was made permanent the following season.

He has 10 goals and eight assists in 108 games, with some Spurs fans still unsure about the Argentine.
