DALLAS Cowboys owner Jerry Jones has walked back on his claim that he felt no urgency in getting CeeDee Lamb to sign an extension.

The superstar wideout, 25, is holding out of training camp to land a new bumper contract.

On Thursday, Jones was blasted by Cowboys fans after telling reporters he was in no hurry to complete negotiations.

But Jones backtracked before yesterday’s preseason opener against the Los Angeles Rams – a 13-12 loss.

“Now I understand completely the angst that’s happening when you’re anxious about and someone says anything about whether you’re missed or not,” he said.

“Well, CeeDee, you’re missed, OK? But you’re not missed out here competing and it doesn’t put any pressure any place on us.”

Jones’ original comments saw Lamb respond “lol” on X .

The three-time Pro Bowler is also said to have removed the words America’s Team, a well-known nickname for the Cowboys , from his bio.

Asked if he had any urgency to sign Lamb , Jones replied, “No.”

“I don’t know why I said it,” Jones added Thursday.

“I don’t know. I don’t have a sense of urgency about getting it done. Put any reason you want.

“I was at Nobu two days ago. Give that as the reason. Whatever you want to put out there.”

Lamb’s current deal is set to expire next year.

Quarterback Dak Prescott will also hit free agency next year if he doesn’t ink an extension in the coming months.

Star edge rusher Micah Parsons is on the lookout for a new contract, too, having entered the fourth year of his rookie deal.

However, Jones has been adamant that the Cowboys won’t rush into things during talks with their stars – while insisting on being “all in” on the 2024 NFL season.

With this season’s schedule now revealed, eager NFL fans are looking to secure tickets to their favorite games.

You can start buying tickets for some games on several sites now:

Before purchasing tickets on resale websites check pricing as they are third-party sellers and, importantly, the cost can vary depending on demand. You may pay more than an official ticket, though you can also get good last-minute deals too.

But if you can’t be there in person, don’t worry, there’s still time to set up your stream before the season starts.

He even compared himself to Kansas City Chiefs signal-caller Patrick Mahomes while explaining his strategy last month.

“In my life, I have played option quarterback so many times and wait until the last leaf on the tree,” Jones said.

“If you want to picture a pure option quarterback going out to the sidelines, I have run that ball and kept it and not handed off to the [running] back, not pitched it back, not thrown it, and I have run that thing all the way out to the sidelines before I made the decision.

“Because I couldn’t get whatever it took, it wasn’t right for me to make the decision.

“And so what our fans, what you’re seeing, what we deal with is we’re buying time.

“We’re option-quarterbacking, and we’re going out toward the sideline, and we haven’t handed it, we haven’t pitched it.

“We’re trying to make our mind up [with] what to do? Does that sound like Mahomes to you? A little bit?”
