She took to her TikTok page @thatcotswoldclaire and shared her savvy tips which has since had over 30K people liking it.

Claire captioned the video: “The decorating hack that will help you create the home of a pro!

“Choose colours for your walls and accessories and get the dream home you’ve always dreamt of.”

She says: “Whenever I share this, it always blows people's minds.”

Claire started off by explaining that this trick will create a home that feels like it has been designed by an interior designer.

She says: “It is as simple as locking in your colour choices. Between five and seven colours that you bring into your home and you only use those colours.”

Claire explained that homeowners just need to make sure they get their hands on paint colour charts that you can pick up from your local decorating store for free.

She says: “These are created by experts. There’s a lot of science that goes into how they grouped the colours within them.

“But you don’t need to know that because they’ve done the hard work for you.

“Any colour that runs along the horizontal of these are colours that you want to lock in.”

Claire then flips the colour chart around, and goes into more detail about how it works.

Pointing towards a row of colours, she says the ones going horizontally across will work as they are similar “tones and tints.”

She points out that they're the same undertones but they’ve had either more white or more black added into that.

Whenever I share this, it always blows people's minds

Claire says: “Don’t be afraid of picking a strong colour, as it will still match the lighter colours.”

She is always stunned that people are not aware of this decorating trick, but it is “such an easy way” to get your house looking like a professional has painted it.

Claire continues: “It is also important to remember, and this is where people often slip up.

“It’s that you don’t need to represent those colours all in paint work.

“This means you might want to do one colour as your walls and then all of the other colours can be brought through all of your soft furnishing and accessories within your room.

“So although you’re choosing your five colours from a paint chart, you’re not carrying those five colour choices through by not using actual paint.

“Think about perhaps having two or three as paint, you might have something on your walls, something on your ceiling and something on your woodwork.

“Then the other colours would be brought in different ways - [e.g] Rugs, curtains, sofas, even down to accessories like candles.”

Don’t be afraid of picking a strong colour, as it will still match the lighter colours

The TikTok viral video attracted lots of attention with many rushing to the comments section to share their thoughts.

One wrote: “Oh my god... where have you been all my life?! Currently looking at decorating my entire house and this is a godsend.”

Another added: “Wow, who knew… not me. Thanks for the heads up.”

Someone else said: “I don’t think this is true. From my research it is best to mix items that are opposite to each other on the colour wheel - green and pink for instance.”

To which Claire explained: “Yes, that’s called a complementary colour scheme… choosing opposite colours creates high impact and contrast and is another option that I’ve shared a video on further down my feed.”

Claire is a huge fan of Interiors and currently has a big DIY project underway.

She says: "As well as TikTok i'm also documenting my own eco self-build over on Instagram.

"I'm project managing that alongside my husband and doing all the interiors too.

"Set to move in at the end of September after 4 long years building."

    Four cheap home renovation tricks

YOU don't have to spend loads to give a room a new look. Here are five other home renovation tricks you can try.

    Kitchen cupboards

One way to give your kitchen a complete transformation for less is to change the look of the kitchen cupboards. There are loads of different vinyl coverings out there to choose from, and it's a quick and easy way to update your home.

    Handles

Another thing you can try that won't break the bank is to change up the handles. You can pick up relatively cheap handles in DIY stores, or even in the charity shop. Adding new ones to your kitchen cupboards, or doors in your house, can be extremely effective.

    Leftovers

Most of us have old half-used tins of paint in the garage, but they're often forgotten about. However, there may be enough in the pot to paint a feature wall in another room, and you won't have to spend a penny.

    Freebies

It's worth checking your local Facebook Marketplace, or Freecycle, to see what other people are getting rid of. As they say, one person's trash is another person's treasure. And if someone's planning to revamp a room, they might want to get rid of a sofa, or a coffee table, which you could use to give a lounge a new look.
