THE Minnesota Vikings’ training camp of turmoil has continued.

Vikings wide receiver Jordan Addison was carted off the practice field due to an ankle injury on Wednesday – the same day the team announced that rookie quarterback JJ McCarthy underwent season-ending knee surgery.

The second-year wideout Addison went down near the sidelines after he attempted a contested catch.

The USC product was seen holding his leg and hobbling with trainers before leaving on a cart.

The “initial belief” is that Addison’s injury “is not serious,” per ESPN’s Jeremy Fowler.

Vikings head coach Kevin O’Connell also revealed to reporters that Addison has an ankle injury and won’t practice on Thursday but doesn’t believe it’s a serious situation.

“I think he’s going to be okay,” O’Connell said .

Last season, the 2023-first-round pick Addison recorded 70 catches for 911 receiving yards and 10 touchdowns.

Addison’s injury comes a month after the wideout was arrested in California and charged with driving under the influence three weeks later.

It’s been reported that the Vikings expect Addison to be suspended by the NFL once his legal situation is over.

Still, Minnesota believes Addison will be with the team at the start of the season since he is not set to offer a plea until early October.

Addison will be alongside star wide receiver Justin Jefferson , who signed a four-year, $140 million deal which became the largest contract for his playing position in NFL history .

Unfortunately, the two wideouts will be without 2024 first-round pick McCarthy for the whole 2024-25 season.

The Vikings announced that the rookie will miss the entire campaign after undergoing surgery for a torn meniscus.

McCarthy got injured during his preseason game against the Las Vegas Raiders last weekend.

Even before the injury, the No. 10 overall pick was still slated to be behind Sam Darnold, who was on track to start in Week 1 against the New York Giants .

Darnold was signed to a one-year deal with the Vikings in the offseason after being a backup for the San Francisco 49ers in 2023.

Still, McCarthy impressed in his lone preseason showing, recording two touchdowns and one interception in Minnesota’s 24-23 win over Las Vegas.

Darnold will hope to thrive in McConnell’s offensive system which is well-regarded.

The 2018 first-round pick brings with him a career starting record of 21-35.

In 66 career games, Darnold has thrown 63 passing touchdowns and a disappointing 56 interceptions.
