Thousands of gamers gather for some of this year’s biggest gaming reveals – here’s how you can join in

GAMESCOM is one of the biggest events of the year for the gaming industry, as hundreds of companies gather to show off their upcoming games.

The highlight of Gamescom for many is Opening Night Live where there will be dozens of new games revealed and more footage shown for upcoming games.

While the show is live, fans don’t have to be in attendance as the whole show will be streamed for people to watch at home.

When to watch Gamescom Opening Night Live

Gamescom Opening Night Live will begin at 8:00pm local time in Germany on Tuesday, August 20, 2024.

As it is streamed live, here’s what that means for your time zone.

• 2:00pm ET (East Coast US)
• 7:00pm BST (UK time)

We expect Gamescom to be around two hours long, and we expect there will be some non-video game announcements like TV and film adaptations.

How to watch Gamescom Opening Night Live

There are two ways to catch Gamescom Opening Night Live, so you can choose your favourite.

This first is The Game Awards’ Twitch channel, where there are usually giveaways for in-game items depending on how long you watch the stream.

If you just want to see the announcements, you can check out The Game Awards’ YouTube channel, which will have the stream in full and will allow you to watch the VOD straight afterwards.

A number of the games that will be featured during Gamescom Opening Night Live have already been announced.

Host Geoff Keighley revealed a short list of games that will be featured, including a number from fan favourite series.
